Dictation modes
A mode is a named setup that decides how a recording is transcribed and styled. Keep one per kind of writing and switch in a tap.
2 min read
A mode is a saved setup for how wispa handles a recording. Instead of changing settings each time, you switch to the mode that fits what you are writing.
What a mode holds
- The model used to transcribe, local or cloud.
- The language, either automatic or a fixed one.
- An optional AI cleanup step that formats the text for where it is going.
Built-in templates
wispa ships templates you can start from: Default Plus, Email, Markdown and Slack, plus a blank custom mode. Each is a starting point you can rename and adjust. There is always a fixed Standard mode as a plain baseline.
FAQ
Questions and answers
How many modes can I have?
As many as you like. Most people keep a few, one for quick notes, one for email, one for chat, and switch between them.
Do modes change how I insert text?
No. Every mode still inserts at your cursor. Modes only change how the recording is transcribed and, optionally, how it is cleaned up.
Is the Standard mode special?
Standard is a fixed baseline mode that is always there. Your custom modes sit alongside it and can be reordered.
