Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the website wispa.it, not to the wispa app (which transcribes locally; the app's data processing is described in the app under “About → Data & Privacy”).

2. Hosting (GitHub Pages)

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation). When you access the site, GitHub processes technically necessary data (see server log files). Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and efficient provision of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Server log files

When the pages are accessed, the host automatically collects information that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, the requested file, the referrer URL and the user agent (browser/operating system). This data serves delivery, stability and security and is not merged with other data sources. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

4. Fonts

The fonts used on this website are served locally from the server (GitHub Pages). No connections to third-party servers (e.g. Google Fonts) are established and no personal data is transferred to third parties.

5. Local storage in the browser

For the chosen language, the colour scheme (light/dark) and your cookie decision, the site stores small values in your browser's local storage (localStorage). These remain on your device, are not transmitted to us, and are not cookies in the legal sense that would enable tracking.

6. Downloading the app

The wispa app is downloaded via GitHub Releases (GitHub, Inc., USA). During the download, GitHub processes the technically necessary data (including your IP address) as an independent controller. No account and no personal data are required.

7. Contacting us

If you contact us by email, we process your details in order to handle your request. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual/contractual) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed.

8. Web analytics (Google Analytics)

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). We use it to understand how visitors use the site so that we can improve it.

On this website Google Analytics runs with Google Consent Mode. Until you consent via our cookie banner it stays in a cookieless mode: no analytics cookies are set, no _ga identifier is created and no analytics data linked to you is collected — at most aggregated, cookieless signals are sent to Google. Only when you accept does full, cookie-based analytics start. The legal basis for the cookies and the consent-based analytics is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future via “Cookie settings” below; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

If you consent, Google processes information about your use of the website — such as device and browser data, approximate location, the pages you visit and interactions with them. For Google Analytics 4, Google states that IP addresses are used only transiently to derive a coarse location and are not logged or stored. The data is assigned to a pseudonymous identifier and is not combined by us with data that directly identifies you.

With your consent, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, in particular cookies whose names begin with _ga (for example _ga and _ga_…), with a storage period of up to two years. If you decline, or withdraw your consent, these cookies are not set. The event and user data collected by Google Analytics is automatically deleted after the retention period configured in Google Analytics (at most 14 months).

In this context, data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google bases such transfers on the EU standard contractual clauses and its certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. A transfer to a third country cannot be entirely ruled out.

You can prevent analytics at any time by declining in the cookie banner or via “Cookie settings”. You can also install the browser add-on provided by Google to opt out of Google Analytics: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access to the data stored about you (Art. 15),
• rectification (Art. 16) and erasure (Art. 17),
• restriction of processing (Art. 18),
• data portability (Art. 20),
• objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for your place of residence.
