A words-per-minute score that takes years of keyboard practice to reach is the baseline for ordinary speech. Your mouth hits competitive-typist numbers without any training at all.
Typing tests measure a skill worth improving, and deliberate practice can add twenty or thirty wpm over a few months. Speaking starts where that long journey ends.
